"International Students Movement"
What is the "International Students Movement"?
The "International Students Movement" is a platform used by groups and activists around the world struggling against the commercialisation and privatisation of public education to network and co-ordinate protests together.
The platform is independent from any political parties, unions or other institutions. It is dominated by grassroots movements and generally open to everyone [students, pupils, teachers, parents, workers,...].
Higher Education and Research Network
Our network was initiated during the European Summer University of Attac held in Sarrebruck in 2008. Following the Bologne process and in application of the Lisbon strategy, most of the european countries have engaged reforms in their universities and in their research institutions. The results is that higher education and research become privatised, some of the non-profitable topics are in great danger (the last example being social sciences in Greece). The aim of our network is to keep all our partners informed of what is going on in each country and get organised to react. International meetings/demonstrations will have to be organized in the coming future and we need to strengthen our network representation.
