Tax havens play an essential role in the globalisation of criminal financial activity because of the tax advantages which they provide for their clients, but also because of the banking secrecy and the judicial immunity which they guarantee. 

This year the organisers of the Tour de France had the brainwave of leaving from Monaco with stages in Andorra and Switzerland, three tax havens. 

Attac France, Attac Switzerland and other partners, swung into action. 

The programme : 

MONACO 3rd - 5^th July 

3^rd July 2009, Place de la liberté at Cap d'Ail near the border to Monaco.  

2:30 pm: Inaugural press conference in the presence of Dominique Plihon (president of the scientific committee of Attac) and Jean Merckaert (CCFD - Terre Solidaire, [Catholic Committee Against Hunger and for Solidarity],  coordinator of the platform on tax and judicial havens.
