Centre and Periphery - abolition of neocolonialism Working Group(CPWG)
Participants of the Centre and Periphery Working Group (CPWG) share the idea that (we) altermondialism need (concrete) historical and geo-political analysis of the internal/external relations of the European Union; to explore the core/peripheral relations inside the EU - and to produce comparative studies for geo-political alternatives. We agrre with Catherine Samary to "compare similarities and differences between enlargement to the South countries and to the East. But even the "core countries" are different (UK is not Germany nor France...). Contradictions are to be stressed, because the EU is not NAFTA, political issues are combined with economic mechanisms and democratic rights..."
We wish to integrate into this WG as many people as possible including core countries (e.g. France and Germany), semiperipheric and peripheric countries of South Europe (e.g. Spain, Portugal, Greece), Central and Eastern Europe as well as North Africa, etc. Expected outcome of this work: different comparative studies and geo-political alternatives (in English and French) by November 2011 and presenting them at the anti-G20 meeting in Nizza.
