Mass arrest within Attac's block during COP15 global action day

Attac's block was violently cut in two by the Danish police during COP15 global action day.

About 700 people got arrested as 'preventive measure' and retained for 6 hours in the 'climate prison'...

Whereas the rest of the demo kept on walking toward Bella Center, hundreds of activists have stood peacefully but firmly in front of Danish 'robocops' and dogs for three hours, asking for immediate liberation of their comrades. In vain...

The embedded video presents an insight view of the group of protestors standing in front of the police blockade. The presence of the pink block's Brazilian brassband strongly contributed to maintain a peaceful and friendly atmosphere in front of the armoured Danish cops.

The Story of Cap & Trade

The Story of Cap & Trade is a fast-paced, fact-filled look at the leading climate solution being discussed at Copenhagen and on Capitol Hill. Host Annie Leonard introduces the energy traders and Wall Street financiers at the heart of this scheme and reveals the "devils in the details" in current cap and trade proposals: free permits to big polluters, fake offsets and distraction from what’s really required to tackle the climate crisis. If you’ve heard about Cap & Trade, but aren’t sure how it works (or who benefits), this is the film is for you.

ATTAC / Climate Justice - Copenhagen newsletter#2

7 weeks to mobilise !

Here's the second mail to help Attac groups in the preparation of Copenhagen.

This mail has been written after two key meetings :
* in Bangkok, the last UN preparatory meeting and a seminar organised by CJN!, Climate Justice Now the 4th and the 5th of October;
* an international activist meeting in Copenhagen the 16th, 17th and 18th of October.

Sharing information regarding ATTAC's mobilisation / practical matters

First we need some practical information about the ATTAC presence in Copenhagen.

1/ Do you have people from your ATTAC country who will stay in Copenhagen for all the process or at least an important period (1 week, for example)? If the answer is yes:

-          Attac France proposes to include representatives from the other Attac chapters under its accreditation. It will get in touch with each national chapter during the coming days.

Accomodation in Copenhagen

Hey everyone

Just a short question: Is there any attac specific camp/accomodation planed in Copenhagen? Of course we are all going to find a place to sleep, but it would be nice to be able to meet some other attac activists.

Thanks for posting any information you have.

See you soon!
